Presenting with PEP – Stand and deliver with confidence

This 2-day program introduces participants to the basics of being in front of audiences.  This program deals with impact, nerves, structure and style.

Presenting With PEP

Presentations have become the de-facto business communication tool.  Companies are started, products are launched, and climate systems are saved – possibly based on the quality of presentations.

Out of the millions of presentations delivered each day, only a small percentage are delivered well.

Whether you are a CEO, senior manager, or educator, you create presentations that have incredibly high stakes.  Stock value, sales revenue, career promotions and behaviour changes are all influenced by presentations every day.  And yet, very little is done to prepare people to deliver meaningful presentations that get the message across.

Our presentations skills sessions include:

  • Your positive connection to the topic
  • Creating a positive relationship between you and the audience
  • Building desire and motivation in your topic
  • Incorporating stories into your presentations
  • Developing the ability to link anything to anything
  • Working with Visuals
  • Working with PowerPoint

Course Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, participants will:

  • Use the appropriate presentation style to suit the content, audience and environment.
  • Take “dry” or “boring” content and bring it to life using stories
  • Work effectively with a variety of visual aids (eg slides, flipcharts, props, notes)
  • Have practiced using a structure that has been proven to achieve results
  • Develop a personal toolkit of techniques to be applied in appropriate contexts
  • Have shifted their perspective to designing sessions based on the purpose of the presentation and the audience involved
  • Have received personal feedback on their own style to enable improvement
  • Use a range of communication styles to engage the audience
  • Demonstrate the ability to review and reflect on a presentation with a view towards improvement

Prework:

Participants are asked to bring along a 5-7 minute presentation that is typical of what they would normally present in their work, or if they don’t typically present, something that they can present to set a benchmark and provide content to apply the theoretical sections to.
